My name is Teresa, also known as TED — founder of Ted’s Wig Emporium and a fellow hair-loss warrior living with androgenetic alopecia.

My own hair-loss journey began in my late 20s, when my hair started thinning.

I constantly worried that people would notice or comment, and I dreaded having my photo taken.

All I could see was my sparse hairline, frizzy texture and lifeless hair, not the long, beautiful hair I've always wanted. 

Then one day, I decided to try alternative hair.

It was one of the most liberating experiences of my life — and, quite honestly, I was hooked! 

The more I discovered wigs, the more I realised what I was looking for.

I didn’t want hair that simply looked like a wig.

I wanted hair that looked natural, believable and completely me.

As a petite woman, I found many off-the-shelf wigs were simply too big for my head and too dense for my frame. I wanted something comfortable and realistic, with the kind of effortless look that could become part of everyday life.

That search became a passion.

I started reviewing wigs, learning everything I could about alternative hair and discovering just how many options were available. Eventually, that passion turned into a dream —  Ted’s Wig Emporium was born. 

More than a wig

As someone who has been on this journey myself, I know that choosing alternative hair can feel overwhelming, especially when you're new to wigs.

There are different cap constructions, densities, colours, lengths, hair types and styles to consider. And when you’re already feeling vulnerable about your hair, knowing where to start can feel like a lot.

Natural is everything

For me, natural-looking hair will always be at the heart of what we do.

I carefully look for styles with realistic densities, believable hairlines and wearable designs — because a wig shouldn’t have to look “wiggy” to look amazing.

Every piece is selected with comfort, realism and confidence in mind, because I know how important it is to look in the mirror and still recognise yourself.

And I also know how amazing it feels when you finally find that piece of hair that makes you think:

“Yep. That’s me.”

For me, it’s never just about selling you a wig.

It’s about listening to what you need, helping you understand your options and finding hair that feels right for you.
